Zeke, not trying to be a hard @#%, but the above could be possible indicators you and your father need to spend more time at the range.

Lost two of his best broadheads? Do you mean best condition, sharpest, flew the best? Has he shot them at a target to know how they are flying and where they are impacting? Did you guys retune your bows after switching to carbons, or just slap tips on and lock and load? If you didn't, I suspect your arrow flight and seubsequent shot placement is less than to be desired... just some thoughts.

How can you blame your carbons or your broadhead for that shot. <img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

Where did your dad hit his deer?? If he is hitting them like you, there is no broadhead made that will consistantly kill a deer.

It didn't go through because you hit him in the rump. There is a great deal of muscle and bone back there, very easy not to get a pass thru - no matter what your set up is.

What is the &quot;greasy&quot; spot on a deer? Never heard that one. If you didn't find the deer or the arrow then you really don't know for sure where you hit him so I would assume from all indications that if you think you hit him far back then you probably did hit him in the arse. Regardless of carbon or aluminum, you should get a clean pass through unless you hit some solid bone and there is plenty of that in the arse area. If the buck was quartering towards you then any shot &quot;below the backbone and left (forward) of the butt&quot; will have an angle such that the arrow will carry back toward the arse. Nevertheless, I wouldn't suspect the reason you didn't get any pass-thru's would have anything to do with whether the arrow was carbon or aluminum.
