Zeke, not trying to be a hard @#%, but the above could be possible indicators you and your father need to spend more time at the range.
Lost two of his best broadheads? Do you mean best condition, sharpest, flew the best? Has he shot them at a target to know how they are flying and where they are impacting? Did you guys retune your bows after switching to carbons, or just slap tips on and lock and load? If you didn't, I suspect your arrow flight and seubsequent shot placement is less than to be desired... just some thoughts.
