Scored a new hunting spot. What to do about ticks!!
#1
Well I scored a new hunting spot in Southern Illinois this year.About 90 acres: 20 crp fieldand the rest is mostly nasty, thick, secluded woods. Creeks running through it, deer trails everywhere!! I already picked a couple of perfect stand locations and I feel like I won the lotto
!
How do you guys deal with ticks!!?? I have never seen so many in my life, all different kinds. I found tiny ones digging thier way into my chest!! I can't see hunting there without some kind of repellent, but don't want to stink the place up. I have tried that Scent Shield Fall Blend, but it still stinks. What about dog-tick collars on my legs and arms? I'll try anything, I would roll around in horse sh!t if it works!

Spray your clothes down with Permanone. You can pick it up at walmart. It does a pretty decent job at keeping ticks off your clothes as long as you tuck everything in so they cant get passed your clothes.

Peromone is the way to go, and tuck your pants inside your boots. BUT MOST OF ALL!!! After every day in the woods make sure you strip down to your short ones and have your wife, girlfreind or whoever go over your body in all the places that you can't see or check yourself. Who knows maybe you will get LUCKY, WINK,WINK!! Don't let your guard down!!

I forgot to ask. If you need someone to help hunt that new spot I will gladly drive out from Pa to help out. Good Luck ! It sounds like a good one!

Deer ticks in larval stage are really hard to see, even under close examination. A good hot showever with a nylon "scrubby" that night will also dislodge any that may have attached themselves already too. And THEN have your wife or girlfriend check you over...your chances will be much better
