Here's another question

Where is the data you guys claimed to have, that shows non-hunters support the WHA?

I would like to see this data, and contact the folks it was tested on to see what they were really told.
Just about every non-hunting friend and in-law I've mentioned this to has said "cool!".... later after I've recomposed myself and the profanity stops(jus kidding) I go over it with them and they still don't see it as a problem..... That's where I get MY data from.... Mainstream non-hunting media isn't going to poll people on this.

The wonder how many people even know about this W h A. I bet they are worried that Walmart will drop them now that they saw some of the hunters voice their opinions

I'm against the WHA, but if someone comes on here with facts about the pro's of the darting philosophy then this topic should be debated and this forum seems to be just the place.Without namecalling and tempers. It would be more interesting than the "mutual admiration society" posts that this thread has turned into. Perhaps we could start a debate one on one with someone from the WHA and a representative (an eloquent one) from HNI and post this debate between the two representatives. A moderator from each side can field questions for the debators.

I am against the WHA and view it as a serious degradation of the sport of hunting. As time passes hunting has become a huge business because it sells. The TV coverage of trophy hunting paints a different picture than most of us see through our experiences a field. Turn it on and you will see continuous shots harvesting true trophies. To the young sportsmen they have the expectation that all hunting is as portrayed on TV. The canned hunting operations can provide some of what they see on TV so they get business. Older hunters like me don't care for that type of hunting because it is foreign to the way we were taught. I think the WHA would appeal to some of the younger I want it now crowd. The thought of tranquilizing deer competitively in a fenced area nauseates me but this is America where people have the right to do what they want on their own property as long as it is legal. I am sure many states will probably outlaw this type of entertainment but there will always be areas where it remains legal. Hunting for me is the fair chase between me and my quarry. The kill is anti climatic and what keeps me going back for more is the chase. I have too much respect for all game to harvest indiscriminately so I only kill what I intend to eat. The camaraderie of guys in camp, the food and drink, the stories and the hunt keep me coming back. Seeing it on TV doesn't do a thing for me personally but I realize hunting is different things for different people.

What fact do you need to know? The folks coming here were not bring any facts, we ask they gave none.

Here is the only fact I need to know

1. They are darting deer with drugsfor money in a cage

I can not, will not, never get past the above statement. There no reason to drug a deer for cash or to control population. Once we allow WHA to have their contest, we open the door for ARA to use drugs to control populaions. Hunters do not want the meat they just want to take a picture and score the rack. It is a slippery slope.

I have no intention of debating anything with the WHA, I just have one comment for them

GO POUND SAND

Ok any questions?

I emailed Wal-Mart Corporate last week but have yet to get a response.

<<<an open suggestion to David Farbman>>>
Mr. Farbman, if money is your goal then why not try to revive the XFL with Vince McMahon. You already have the cheerleaders and you may actually get some true hunter's support.

I like it.....I am more of a hunter for food than for trophys though....If people want to do this, more power to them...I see many complained about this type of hunting...But,I find it more of a challenge this way....You have to find your deer before the drug wears off,in turn makes you a better tracker..If you call this unsporting,I would consider all the equipment you all use in todays world,,
treestands, scopes, scent blockers, deer lure, crossbows, ground blinds...You call all these things sporting???I don't think so if they was made by man to hunt...Like I said, I am afood hunter....I don't own a treestand or a blind or use scent cover to hunt....But I am not condemning the people who do either...If I could make money off this, and everyone else here could,,it would not be a problem then...Isn't America great,The land of oppurtunity....I say good luck on this project and hope someones American dream comes true for furtune and some fame while haveing fun at what they like to do...And that is hunting.....This is no different than watching hunting videos or hunting on the outdoor channel....You watch it and buy their products of their sponsors.....Anyway...Good Luck to WHA again...

One more thing...The food hunters don't care about this...It has nothing to do with them killing a deer and eating it...There is prob out of all the hunters in this country 5% who are trophy hunters...everyone else are good ole rednecks who hunt to kill the animal that looks like a deer...antlers does not matter....You can't eat them...

An objective debate would be a very interesting forum topic. The people who came on the site were not representatives of the WHA, just grandstanders. Don't be afraid of an open debate. The truth will come out We can't lose ,the WHA will lose. A level headed debator would be great to display our side of the topic. I've read some very good thoughts by some members here that can debate the facts without losing their cool. Personally I'd like to see that.

I agree with most of the repondents here that the WHA is a very bad idea. The fact that it has more appeal to non-hunters or those opposed to hunting is scary. We already have enough fanatics trying to exterminate hunting why give them more ammunition?

I like the Dr Andy's idea of debating - my vote would be to have Uncle Ted debate someone from WHA! I've seen him debate anti-hunting advocates and it reminded me of a bear I saw in Alaska having a chat with a salmon.

Truth be told the irresponsible part of this is that it does nothing to promote ethical (clean kill) hunting. These guys know that when delivering a drug you only need hit the animal, where you hit them isn't that important. So what kind of shot would you take for $1M knowing a bad shot doesn't mean anything worse then perhaps a longer track. You know you aren't killing the animal so why not take that walking away shot, or that head-on shot. How is this a positive for promoting hunting? What would this teach potential new hunters going afield??

I've seen guys posting comparing the WHA to Bassmasters or other fishing tournys - COME ON when was the last time you jerked a lure out of the water cause the fish about to bite it wasn't the trophy you wanted??? Should hunters be allowed to drug every deer they get a shot at, then when they are satisfied with the one they want to keep they can just put it on a stringer??? There is a reason it's called fishing and not hunting!

Maybe those guys were just "fishing" for some way to advocate the WHA.
