Do scent bombs normally work in the early bow season??

You mean.....like doe urine? In my opinion, no. Not just early season, but not at all. HOWEVER, that depends on your definition of "work." The commercials and ads make them seem like they attract bucks from miles off. No way. They do, on the other hand, maybe hold a buck that may have been passing through anyway long enough for a shot. A scent trail leading back to one may work, but once again, you're spreading the scent far enough that a buck may coincedentally pick up the trail and decide to follow it. Don't believe the hype, that's my 2 cents worth...

what the hell is a scent bomb. i just got a mental picture of you lighting one of those golfball sized smokebombs you have on 4th of july and instead of colored smoke comming out it was doe juice smell/smoke.

The one I use last year was like a fogger. It didn't work.

I'll hang those little plastic jars with a scent wick in them,I thin tink's calls them scent bombs. I used to use old clean cotton socks but the jars allow you to save on scent product cuz you close em and use them again. I've laid down scent trails and drawn indeer like magnets sometimes and other times they ignore it. I'm beginning to think the scent trails work best very near to the rut . In the early season I think it's a waste of money!

Ya know I got a very good education on scents and attractors on another site by Stonny Creek Scents. All those supposidly doe in heat scents you get from the Wal-Mart store don't work. You may say I used brand X last year and the buck came right to it. Well congrats but it wasen't a sex lure that brought him in it was curiosity. The substance in deer urin looses its effect in as little as 12 hours bottled. It needs to be frozen right away and shiipped that way and kept frozen until ready for use. The scent that has proven most effective for me in any season has been food scents like vanilla and persimmon , they attract the does and the does attract the bucks . I disagree that estrous scents don't work , the buck I drew in last season came in to an estrous scent and it didn't appear like his curiosity was what he wanted to satisfy .

Like I said sometimes they seem to work and other times not. I've heard of the vanilla trick, and plan on trying it this year. Costco has it pretty cheap compared to the little bottles at the supermarket.

I'll have to agree with Dr Andy on this one.
Some sents work / some don't it depends how & when you you use them.
Like Dr Andy said its better to lay a sent trail to your stand than to let something hang on a limb.
Even thou he didn't use those exact words I'm sure that's he ment to get across.

Year before last, I walked into the woods and got set up for my father to push a stretch of woods to me. When I found a good spot, I squirted a bit of Cronk's Buck's Joy on the tree behind me to cover my scent (I hoped).

Not five minutes later I had a buck making a beeline for me and it was snorting like a pig the whole way. Tastiest deer I've ever had! I can guarantee you that they DO work *sometimes*. I sure as heck don't go out without a bottle anymore.

You definitely want to get as fresh a bottle as you can, though. I've had some bottles that smell a lot stronger to me than others.
