Back up bows
#21
I do have a back up bow.My primary bow is a 2003 Hoyt Ultrtec,my back up is a 2005 Protec.I think buying a good 3 to 5 year old bow as a back is a wise idea and shouldn't be that costly.Like others have said you work to hard at preparing for the season to lose opportunities because of an equipment problem.
Hardcore if you havn't met shed yet,you are in for a treat.Troy shot two beautiful whitetails last year, the one in this threads photograph is by far the "little" one and of course it is a beautiful buck!

I myself have 2 bows I use all season. It just depends if I climb a tree I take my recurve (cuz its only 60 inches
) If I stay on the ground I take my long bow (cuz its only 64 inches
) I really dont have a back up bow per say cuz I just can not stay faithful to 1 bow.

Im a pack rat. Its hard for me to get rid of a bow I have hunted with for a long period of time. I have two back up compounds, that I have never needed as a back up, but still pull them out from time to time to hunt with. Same way with my traditionals. Traditionals are a little different, I like to keep my old ones for the same reason I keep my compounds, but also for their beauty.

We always take backup strings, cables, etc on all of our hunts, and a bow press when we can. I also take a handmade recurve a guy I met on a hunt once made me. It shoots well, and I figure if everything else breaks then it is a sign that I am supposed to use it.

Yep, I have backups. When I go on trips I always bring two bows and anextrabroken in string for eaxh. No sense driving 1500 miles, horseback riding in another 9, hiking a few and then have your bow string break and not be able to do anything about it, of course if I was using a compound, I'd also have a portable press.

Yepper got a back up. I have kepted my last last two bows so now I have three. All shoot a little different and so I plan to use them all this season. I like to have a back up on trips so I try to take one if I can. Fly in trips are weight watching so I may not on one of these in the future.

It's also a good idea to have a back -up release with you at all times. Unless you shoot fingers
