Well, some of you know I just bought some new arrows with Quick Spins after having shot feathers forever. I just spent 2 or 3 hours tinkering with my new dozen arrows. First off, those bad boys do group well. I learned... all to late, that there is no way you can shoot one spot with those things. Where as a feather can take multiple hits and still fly like a dart, wellllllllllllll..... it just isn't the same with Quick spin vanes, well maybe it's that way with any vane. With the air foil they have on them I would think a quick spin is more tempermental. I shot them all at 20 a couple times and then 30. I found one that for whatever reason always wanted to shootto it's on group. In the process I noticed I had a couple bad tears in a couple vanes so set them aside.

Then I screwed on broadheads. Well, they grouped like crazy and I had learned enough not to shoot the same spots. The one thing I did have is that where as the field points were dead on my broadheads were left. I'll work that out later. For now I just wanted to see how they grouped. I shot them at 20 two or three times each and reshot any I thought I'd pulled or something. I then repeated at 30. SAME results. Just absolutely great groups albeit slightly left. EXCEPT one arrow that wanted to be it's own group. I took the Thunderhead and put it on another arrow, worked great. I went back to the bad arrow. Don't know how I missed it but another vane with a big hole/tear in it. Checked them all again and found a fourth that a field point had knicked good enough that I wouldn't want it in my hunting quiver. Definitely have to shoot separate spots. When I first started at thirty I noticed one nock that wasn't snapping on the string like the others. YUP, had crack in it where another field point had whacked it.

So, I started with 12, have 6 in the hunting box temporarily until I can fling them at 40 yards. I have one with a nock to replace and I didn't have any and 4 that need new vanes. The 12th arrow is OK for practice but it just isn't like the rest. I won't know how the other 5 fly until I put broadheads on them and I don't want to do that until I replace the vanes. Look out Len, here I come.[8D]

Are all vanes as picky about another arrow slapping them or is it just the Quick Spins. Definitely need some multiple target spots.

I tried Quick spins and didn't notice anything spectacular. I think that they tear easy and they don't seem to stay on very good. Even with arrow wraps they just don't stay on for me.I am a feather man but have been giving these blazer vanes some thought. The 2 things about feathers that I don't like is their noise and how much they slow down an arrow after 40 yds. They sure do perform well for me with a muzzy 3 blade.

They sound like a good idea, but are they just not made well??

anymore I RARELY shoot the same target twice. It was fun once to hit a previous arrow, But not cheap or easy.[:'(]

They preform good like you said but they are not very durable. Blazers are the way to go IMHO.

Most vanes don't play well w/ others. And w/ some of todays more rigid vanes, ie, Blazers, you will most likely shoot them off before wrinkling or tearing them. I've heard and seen horror stories of the durability of the Quick Spin and given that, I just wonder how much spin is really necessary. Have you shot them through a chrono and done any speed testing? I'm only guessing, but w/ that much rotation I'm thinking the speeds would drop off faster. I have also heard what you mention.....they group very, very well. I know you shoot a Zero Effect, but of the people I know who have shot them through a WB, they don't last long at all. Let us know about any speed testing you do. I would be interested in that.

I thought about switching to those Quick Spins , but I thought about buying a new bow too.
I'm happy with the way my groups are & I'm shooting just fine with the bow I have.
So I'll stick with my old Golden Eagel & my feather fletchings.
Now I'm not braging but my group is really thight - 4 arrows in a 2" diamator

Mobow.... I did the speed test the day I got the arrows, but only at the bow and not down range. Anyway, I lost about 10 fps which I expected because of the added weight. I went from 425 grains to 450+. KEwas + a pound I think.

I used the QS and they performed alright...try the Blazers...very nice!

I tried them all last summer and they suck.they did group good, but sounded like a helicopter coming at you. That is when you were standing cross from the shooter. I also noticed out past 25 yards, you start getting more of a drop, compared to othervanes. They also were not very durable. I was refletching on a daily basis. They wrinkled easy, the kickers fell off, etc... The quality might be better now, but if im spending that kind of money on a vane, it better last longer than the ones I tried last summer. Ill stick with blazers.

What size Blazers are you using Bernie????
