50lb stock salt 100lb mineral salt 50lb dicalcium phosphate Mix using a coffee can 1 part stock salt and 2 parts mineral salt and 1 part dicalcium phosphate. This 200 lbs can make 2 good sized licks and will cost about $25.00 at your local feed store. I tried it this year putting it out in Feb. and now in May the deer are digging in my licks like crazy. Clear a spot 3 or 4 feet diameter and dig a hole about 3 or 4 inches deep about 2 feet diameter to contain the mixture and pour it in and let the rain melt it into the dirt. Its working great here in Alabama. Good luck.

If you're going to do this you should do it like JD3006 did, in February or earlier. The deer, does in particular, really like and need these supplements in the spring when they're carrying and giving birth. They ususally slack off on it during the summer but will still visit it year round. I've seen deer just dig cavernous holes at old mineral licks. When I lived in Georgia we had a couple that would hold a small car.

Ive noticed by trail cams that I have about 75% bucks using mine before thedoes drop and then after fawns are born and does are nursing that my doe hits increase a ton. I see it every year and get it all on film. Ive heard nursing does hit it at a good rate then taper off as summer goes and what I see confirms it.
