Which would you rather eat?

I am from Pa. originally and grew up eating Whitetails. I now live in montana and killed a Mulie buck off of a grain field with Whitetails in it. It was as good eating as any Whitetail I have ever eaten. And, it was a 3 1/2 year old buck. In my opinion, it is the deers diet that determines the quality of the meat, and how well you take care of the meat after the kill.

If they are from the same place, I cant tell the difference. I have shot whitetail and mullies from the same area, where they were feeding on simmilar foods, and after butchering and cooking them both, I could taste little difference.

I agree with you guys that say the taste about the same if they are eating the same diet. But with that said, around here in south Idaho, the mulies live in the mountains and most of the whitetails live in the valley. Because of this the whitetails do taste better, but I still choose to hunt muleys. This year I just hope to draw a extra whitetail only tag on top of my over the counter muley tag.

Neither, elk is much better
...... seriously, like the guys said above, diet plays a big roll. We have both whitetails and mule deer up here in Northern Idaho and they all pretty much feed on the same types of vegetation, mostly clearcuts, yet I like the whitetail venisonover the mule deer venison. I am a little bias to whiteys though!

whitetail but i dont think the different species is the big difference i think it has a lot to do with the diet of each species.
