Neither, elk is much better ......
Yep. I have had elk a few times, but never had a chance to hunt them. No elk season in Texas.[:@]

I tell you what I dont think is worth eating, and I quit hunting them because of this, is Antelope. Or at least the ones around here an not very good.

I'm surprised about Texas antelope. The ones I had from Wyoming were very good- as good as any venison.
Probably something different in the diet of the animal.

Diet has a lot to do with it for sure! I've eaten a nice young mulie doeI tookin southern Idaho's sagebrush country, and she was tender but tasted bland and kinda, well, like sagebrush. I've eaten a young Northern Idahowhitetail buck I tooknear alfalfa fields, and the meat was very sweet tasting. When it comes to the fry pan, I prefer whitetail over mulie, but will pass on both for an elk steak!

Never ate any Muley so I can't say. I would think they'd all be a product of what they ate. I suspect if you found either that fed in the same crops they'd be similar. Now if you compare an ole Muley that's been eating sagebrush vs. an Iowa corn fed whitetail I think their'd be no contest, whitetail.

That must have been some terrible eating venison you had?Being serious I have shot two antelope bucks, and have had the chance to eat many others. All were from around here in Idaho, some were feeding on farmland, others were feeding on sage andnatural grass. Some antelope is very good, and some well even the dog might choose to thump up his nose.

Shed, I too think elk is the cream of the crop, but only if you get a young bull or dry cow. I do think that a big bull in the rut is better than a big muley buck in the rut, but thats not saying much becasue a big muleyis about as good as chewing onboot leather. Overall I do agree that elk is the best of the best of all the game meat I have eaten. I haven't tried any wild buffalo though, so who knows?

A big rutting mulie buck thats been breeding tastes worse then skunk piss a whitetail in the same condition is a lot better. But before the rut they are both good . I would trade ether deer or elk for a moose steak.

Both.... They taste almost the same. I do prefer whitetails over mulies. I think whitetails are a little tender than mulies.

Nice to see more ladies with bow in their hands.
Thanks. My husband introduced me to the bow last spring when we started dating. I LOVE it. It is my favorite thing to hunt with.
