Which State Has the BIGGEST Deer Population?
#22
#23
TEXAS
Texas has the highest whitetail population of any state, and one of the highest annual harvests. Most areas are at least somewhat overpopulated, but intensive management - often including supplemental feeding and high fences - has made many ranches exceptional trophy producers. Most big bucks are shot west of a line from Dallas to Corpus Christi. Leasing hunting access is a long-established tradition.

Wheres WI in that list???
reflexo3, If you are referring to the list of states I had listed to choose from, Wisconsin would probably been considered"OTHER" if they weren't listed.
WISCONSIN
Wisconsin, which produced James Jordan's former world-record typical buck in 1914, is one of the most famous of all whitetail states. Deer hunting is a tradition, from the suburbs of Milwaukee to the vast North Woods. Along the Mississippi River, Buffalo County's intensively managed private farms and wooded bluffs crank out record-class deer every fall.

I have hunted in Texas and seen many deer. If I were to compare Ky. to Tx. in deer per square mile Ky would smoke Tx. I hunt in Crittenden Co. Ky and every field you look in has 10-20 deer in it. It is unreal.

For those who guessed Kansas our population is actually very low compared to others. Our heard is estimated at around 380 thousand. Now quality of the heard will take Kansas to the top portion of the chart.

I live and hunt in West Virginia but since the drastic decline in the deer population due to very poor management by our states DNR, I now hunt in Pennsylvania where they have an antler restriction imposed on their deer. West Virginia has ruined their deer herd by slaughtering entirely too many does and the selling of too many extra stamps/permits where it entitled a resident hunter to kill up to 12 deer per year, for WV's size, it has drastically hurt their hunting.
