Default How much do you know?

Just wondering who on the board knows off the top of their head what the Pittman/Robertson Act was all about.

Do you?

If you do, don't post anything about what it was, I'd like to get a feel for how many of today's hunters know about where our money goes.

I don't know a whole lot about it, but I know what it was about/for. And quite frankly, if you had asked this question a week ago, I would have had no clue...I just read something on it about 3 days ago.[8D]

The Pitmin/ Robinson act is an act that was set up at the request of Sportsman to tax hunting and fishing gear so that a fund could be set up to support wildlife and wildlife education. I belive the Federal Government uses it to match the states funds dollor for dollor. I was reading the other day in the news paper that they were thinking about applying it to other sporting goods like hiking and boadting equipment to help support the failing federal forrests. Its a good thing it is also used to pay for hunter education thats why it dosen't cost anything to take the course.

I know pretty much what it was all about. I had looked it up for a school research paper a couple months ago.

Don't you people read or belong to the NRA or anything??? How could a hunter not know what it's about. Here's a link so those who don't know will know. After all, you pay it. There have been attempts by pinkos to hijack some of the money but they've always been beaten.

That was the point of creating the poll. I asked a couple local hunters when I was at the archery shop today and I was amazed that they had no clue what I was talking about.
