looks like you'll be in venison for a while. Congrats on your weekend hunt - tell us the story.

first of all thanks farm hunter.

well luckly in Ill. you can buy your bow tags over the counter and it seems like i always end up buying the second one so i just bought it this year at the beggining. (2 deer for 1 tag)

well i drove to so. Ill. and hunted at my mother in laws place. i hunt in a 3 acre patch in the middle of a bean field (this year) half of this patch is full of 3 foot dia. oaks and the acorns were falling it sounded like it was raining in fact you wore a hat for protection. well i got on stand at 6:30am at 7 i saw 3 deer walking along the edge of the timber but i had given up on them. at 8:30am i decide i was going to leave because my truck is broke and i was going to go get it fixed and hunt in the afternoon, so i stand up start putting everything in my pack turn around to grab my hoyte and notice 2 yearlings comming in on me i amediatly say oh crud and slowly sit back down and grab my bow. the first yearling walks within 20 yards slightly quartering away and i realease well he bolts i here him run around (out of sight) my tree . the shot was at about 9 oclock and i herd him run to about 2 oclock (or so i thought) the other yearling and momma take off the oppisote directiopn but only run about 20 yards then momma (deer on the left) decides she had better see what just happened to her little button buck. well i stopped her at about 12 oclock 25 yards and shot her she dropped right there but regretfully i just parolized her back legs (not a spine shot i still cannot figure it out) anyway while she was trying to get up from 2 o clock here comes a nother deer right under my stand then the other yearling comes in and i have 2 deer right under me. this all happened so fast i figure i missed the first deer and when the (middle deer) walks out 10 yards i realease perfic shot i saw the entry wound and the arrow was on the ground bloody from one end to the other. now for the tough decision do i knock my last arrow and kill the 2nd yearling? well i have one down and one blood trail to follow. so i decide one blood trail is enough and wait and wait and wait. finally i climb down the tree and scare it off after passing on probably 30 shot oppertunitys. so i go over to the momma and regretfully had to finish her off but i noticed that that the yearling was laying 15 yards from her. so i was already freaking out that i shot 2 deer but to find out that i did not miss the first one and it was so close. bottom line is that i killed 3 deer and only had 1 blood trail. this is the best day of hunting i have ever had and probably will ever have.
MORAL OF THE STORY
this property has stands all over the place but everyone over looks the little oak patch in the middle of the field. i only have to walk 30 yards in the woods to get to my stand.

Two deer for one tag? Does that mean you can take four deer in Illinois? How many bucks?

Sounds like you had lots of action!

that means you can kill as many does as you want and can only kill 2 deer with antlers over 3 inches
