i dont get uncle ted
#21
Kicker, I would like to offer my heartfelt congradulations on your "Higher level of awareness" for noticing that Uncle Ted seems to hunt the worlds most "Human Tolerant" deer on a very regular basis. I know the hate mail is on its way,but I have a challenge. Lets watch a full seasons worth of episodes, and see how mant hunts are fenced or for "Wild exotics" More than half I gaurantee it. I AGREE, Ted is a great spokesman for hunting, but his shows are really cheesy.

Jack- let me guess another thing you haven't done...
You haven't seen Ted Nugent do any of this, either. Have you?

I'll tell you a few things I HAVEN'T DONE.
I haven't stipped half naked and shot a flaming arrow inside a crowded rock shot. (Nor been arrested for it.)
I haven't paid anybody to catch animals and fence them in so I could pretend to "heap big TV Bwana".
I don't need to pay somebody to bait for a few days and then lead me out to the bait pile in side the fence before the camera man gets there.
In fact I'mpretty plain, just run of the mill dad and hunter who taught his own and a few other kids to follow the law and avoid shooting thier hunting partners in the face. Pretty boring stuff I reckon after you've been the "Motor City Madman".

Never been to one of Ted's "shows", have ya?
I watched him in one of his own TV video shows explain how the "guide" prepared his hunt with the corn pile and then he sat there and shot game over it in a fence "presearve".

I've watched many of Ted's videos and I don't recall seeing any of them looking like they were drugged or certainly not chained to a tree.
It's easy to sit here behind a computer and criticize people but what exactly have YOU done to protect our hunting rights? Have you lobbied Congress? Have you stood in front of an audience of kids in schools to promote hunting and a drug free, alcohol free lifestyle? Like the guy or not he os the most vocal person out there fighting to keep our rights to hunt and own guns. Until you can say that you do or have done what he does for us you have no reason to criticize him. In fact you should be shaking his hand and thanking him.

i agree that teds show is a bit cheesy, and he is probally shooting tame deer, however when close to any game it is better to talk in a normal voice (if you really think you need to talk), a whisper has a different decimal that deer can hear better and makes them more aware. if you ever get the chance try it. get close and talk normal. then whisper. i have tried this because i did not believe it and was amazed at the results

I have been on golf courses where the deer will play on the course and let you hit balls at them and talk all you want or walk towards them until you get too close. I have been hiking on the AT and had a bunch of does let me hike within 50 feet of them before they moved down the trail another 50 feet and let me get close to them again before moving two more times before finally running off. I've seen bucks bedded within 75 yards of a chained barking dog. I've had does and a young buck come in my yard with my kids playing and yelling and on a swing and come within 50 yards of us and start eating chestnuts in broad daylight.Think about deer that feed next to roads, within 30 feet of cars flying by, peacefully eating. But let one car slow down or stop....Bam they're gone like a flash. It's all what deer are used to. I'm sure they're used to Ted talking all the time on his ranch (he is a bit of a motor-mouth) I've seen him chasing his buffalo on foot so I'm sure he's out a lot and loud a lot. He's definitely a vocal spokesman for hunting and 2nd amendment rights and I say more power to him. I saw him and his wife and daughter on some tv talk show making the host look like an uninformed fool. His wife and daughter know their stuff too.
Also, so what if his deer are fenced? I really get tired of the macho types that have their ego so tied to how difficult their hunts are, yet I doubt they book hunts for PA or NJ or some of the more overhunted areas in the states. It's not a elemtary school contest. If Ted enjoys hunting on a 5,000 acre fenced preserve, more power to him, that's more free-ranging deer for the rest of us. A large fenced in property is no worse/better than hiking three days into national forest and hunting. Your fence there is just miles of solitude. Either way you are hunting undisturbed deer. ("Well I earned it by hiking for three days." Well he "earned it" by making lots of money over many years, buying the right land, fencing it in, buying stock and managing the land. Which takes a lot longer than three days.)It's not like he's shooting them in a running pen. What diffence does it make? It doesn't make him or you a better man/hunter. Get over your ego, or tie it to something more important like how you raise your kids, how you interact with society, what you do to better mankind and just enjoy the time you have to hunt without all the competition. /rant

Get over it. If you don't like his show, turn the channel.
I am beginning to see whysome people don't like hunters, after reading posts like this. The guy has done a TON of good for the hunting community and for gun rights. As compared to a lot of people who sit back and do nothing.
Get off your ass and do 1% of the good Ted has done for usand then you can maybe think about opening your mouth.
Its been said again and again, but we need to stick together.

The fencing debate? WE'VE DRIVEN THIS ONE INTO THE GROUND ALREADY....
Get over yourselves. Let the guy be who he wants to be. This isn't the soviet union... or france for that matter. So what if he isover the top, HE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO BE.

I was going to start a thread on this as I have seen it a lot on here lately. Not a big deal but annoying
