remember that Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer etc were shooting under par at Augusta in the 70's with persimmon drivers...it ain't the arrow, its the indian! I still shoot a Bear Whitetail II from 1988.

LOL !!!! I still have my Bear Whitetail Hunter II also. but many new bows since then. Bought it new about same year. The only bow that I havent sold. Has sentimental value. And has killed over 30 deer w/ it. I always will keep it as a back up. I know it shoots good. and it likes VENISON !!!!!

cheap?? I started out with a BearKodiak Special at the end of the 70's. Payed a $109 plus tax for it. I still have it. A bit noisey, but very reliable and accurate. Still pull it out to shot it every once and a while for fun. Good enough to take my first deer...

Tyler started out huntingand still uses his BearBadge bow. I payed $275 for it a couple years ago. Great bow with lots of adjustments for young shooters. Was good enough for his first deer...

We plan on keeping the Beartradition alive for when my daughter starts hunting. She will use Tyler's Badge bowfor her first huntingbow. If you noticed... we have another tradition going. Tyler used the same camos I used when I take my first deer with bow 22 years earlier. We might have to do a little hemmingfor Britney when she starts hunting... but she will wear those camos too. Oh by the way... I hope that doesn't come across as mebeing cheap as this thread seems to apply to anyone shooting a Bear. They are just a great set off camos back then and to this day... just as Bear bows are. Of course this is coming from a guy that presently shoots a Buckmaster so take it for what it is worth. MaybeI am just cheap!!
But come to think about it... the Buckmaster lived up to it's name this year...

hmmmmmmmmmm wonder what brandbow I should get Tyler for his second bow??? Cheap seems to be working!![8D]

I have owned quite a few Fred Bear, Jennings and Buckmaster bows over the years. I have always enjoyed shooting the TRX32/Epic Extreme. It was my primary hunting bow back in 2002 or 2003 and I took several nice deer with it. There is nothing wrong with any of their bows.

My first bow was a Fred Bear bow. It was a perfect bow for me at the time. We ended up having to sell it to pay for some bills. Now I shoot a Mathews Mustang. As much as I enjoyed shooting my Bear (And I absolutely LOVED spending that time with my husband and kids) I shoot a ton better with my Mustang. Not saying that one bow is better than another, merely that different bows work differently for each individual. It's all about shooting what feels best for you. Nothing less, nothing more. You can and will find that in every product you buy. Some people will only shop at the top notch stores because they think they are getting a better deal for paying a higher price. In some instances that may be the case, but in most instances you can find something that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg that will work for you just as well without having to pay top dollar. Some of your best companies (as far as customer service) are the little guys. They know thatyou will be coming back if you are treated right. Not all big companies care about that. Their motivation will always be how many they can get out on the market and if you have to buy another one due to a defect, so be it.... more money for them. Do what works best for you. If everyone were the same then we would only ever need "one size fits all" and there never would need to be choices. As much as I love my bow and what it has done for my shooting, I'd pay the price again and again for the confidence and accuracy that I've gained.
