It looks to me like a 4 1/2 - 5 yr old deer.Big neck,dark face,some graying.Nice mature deer cillinoisbowman!!
It's not how big the Deer,But the size of the experiance that matters!!

That is an awesome buck and an awesome story congratulations. I second that on the Rockets Ive shot plenty of deer with them, and always they fall within sight. I shoot the hammerheads 100grain.

I'll try to answer some of your questions.
Do I age the deer?
No I do not but I know what you mean by checking teeth, etc. Most people that saw the deer said 3 1/2 . Like someone said in an earlier response the deer did have a good amount of gray in the face.
Question about where he was going?
Both bucks were coming from the cornfields and doing a little pre- rut trail checking before going to bed.
How big was the buck in front?
He was a 6 pointer probable about 150 LBs.
