10 Pt Sat 10/19 Pictures
Hello fellow bowhunters.
Saturday morning I harvested this 10 pt buck at first light. The morning was perfect. It had just rained the entire night before and the only thing I could complain about was the long hard walk through the mud of the recently turned over farm field. At first shootable light I saw a deer coming down a trail to my left. It was a small buck so I started to look and see if maybee he was with a bigger buck. About 20 yards behind him I could see a very big bodied deer coming in on the same trail. I could see pretty good tines but could not get a front look. I could see he was going to walk into a shooting lane if he kept on the same trail. He started walking pretty fast so about 5 yards from the lane I drew my bow. I had to stop him with a short grunt, he stood broadside at about 32 yards. The rest is in the pictures. He ran about 25 yards and after field dressing we found that I had hit the heart and pinned it against the opposite shoulder. He weighed 211#s FD. I have not scored him but that really does not matter to me. It was a great morning. By the way, to all the mechanical broadhead disbelievers. This is the 3rd big buck I have taken in the last 4 yrs all with a Rocket 100gr Sidewinder. I also saw every deer go down. The key to the mechs is to make sure the rubberband is in place and the blades are moving smoothly. I do this everytime I knock an arrow. Enough about that. The real key is just make a good shot and it does not matter what you use.
Good luck to all, RUT is near, once they start chasing the ladies anything can happen, anytime, anyplace.
Goodbye and Godbless.
