Man I'd sure vote for him. It'd be nice to get an ultra-conservative in there.

Where is this at? I've heard rumors of him running for office in Michigan.

Can you imagine the smear campaigns the Peta groups would run. Personally I don’t think ole Ted would care. He feeds off of ill guided morons like that.

I was reading somewhere, hunting magazine I believe, that Nugent wants to deregulate hunting seasons:expand the weapons available to use, do away with seasons, more liberal bag limits, etc. I just remember after reading the article that I wasn't sure if I wanted him to be the poster boy for hunting. However, he does bring some publicity to the sport.

I would have to know more about his policies before I voted for him. It doesn't benefit us to be single-issue voters.

i think i heard he was wanting to run for governor of michigan his home state that would be awsome if he were to get the political position

RE: Nugent

ok stevebny what proof do you have ted ever dodged a draft?......... none. you people who are anti ted always spout unsubstantiated claims trying to throw mud on a man who will answer any question thrown at him. ted nugent does more to benifit hunting and gun ownership in a day than you will do in your whole pethetic life. ted is planning to run for gov. of michigan. i hope he gets it. i dont agree with everything he does or says but for the most part he is right. seems ffunny how every time ted is on a talk show he takes all the abuse and comes away a winner of any and all debates. yet people are constantly throwing lies at him.i dont know you steve but i wish you the best . just next time you talk ted have the facts to back up any rediculous claims you make.

RE: Nugent

According to a widely-circulated account which we’ve never seen refuted, here’s how Mr. Nugent dodged the draft. "He claims that 30 days before his draft board physical, he stopped all forms of personal hygiene. The last 10 days, he ingested nothing but Vienna sausages and Pepsi; and a week before his physical, he stopped using bathrooms altogether, virtually living inside pants caked with his own excrement, stained by his urine. That spectacle won Nugent a deferment, he says. ‘... but if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd killed all the hippies in the foxholes...I would have killed everybody.’” -- Detroit Free Press Magazine, July 15, 1990

Be the 1st to FACTUALLY refute it - don't kill the messsenger - read the message. It happened before you were born - some of us remember itfrom the time it happened.

Find this and other Ted gems of personality at http://www.nocompromise.org/news/000731c.html.

Or try a google search - many other examples of his "outstanding American Conservative" personality. Broaden your info beyond tnusa and see what you learn of your hero.

Well said, Mizzouhunter.

Bringing attention to the sport? Yes -- sometimes for the good, sometimes not so. Do I want him influencing policy? Not so sure about that one. Conservation is a science, not a half-cocked theory of just "opening up game limits and weapons." While I enjoy mytime afield as much as anyone, I respect the biologists who know what they're talking about using sound reasoning to establish limits and provide enjoyment properly.

SteveBNy, get us a reputable source. I would dare say I'm not alone in thinking things you cut and paste from the Animal LiberationFront webpage may not be entirely accurate. Do you find it interesting that the only place that these quotes are popping up are from the same leftist sources? Likely not as you are afraid to try to think for yourself. Here is a link for all to see as to where Steve is garnering all of the FACTS. Would think it should be against board rules to link animal rightswebsites?

Was Ted Nugent a draft dodger. Is this section true?
Nugent dodged the draft during the Vietnam War. In an interview for the Detroit Free Press (July 15, 1990), Nugent described how he avoided the draft: He claims that 30 days before his Draft Board Physical, he stopped all forms of personal hygiene. The last ten days he ingested nothing but junk food and Pepsi, and a week before his physical he stopped using the bathroom altogether, virtually living inside pants caked with excrement and stained by his urine. That spectacle won Nugent a deferment, he says. His quote: “ but if I would have gone over there, I’d have been killed, or I’d have killed, , or I’d have killed all the Hippies in the foxholes… I would have killed everybody.”

RE: Nugent

Charlie P, that web page didn't make a lot of sense, or I'm just slow? You however did leave off the quote directly below what you cut and pasted:
"Why is the false draft story continually reinserted. The interview was a parody in High Times."

SteveBNy 02-20-2006 10:17 AM

RE: Nugent

Typical response - I give my opinion on TN and I must be peta, antihunter orhave a hidden agenda. Nothing hidden - I think he is an ego driven jerkserving his own agenda. - nothing else. Every good thing he does gets canceled by his own mouth and actions - like(but not limited to)being unarguably a serial adulterer.

I did a search and found dozens of such glowing reports of Ted's self promoting character. I just posted a link to a typical one without really checking its origin - my mistake and it won't happen again - there are too many others that may be used. They did however back every quote with references.

Still no refutes on the draft dodging? This is a no win debate - I'll leave the worshippers to their "Spirit blood brother" idol.
Have fun in Ted's fantasy world.

Charlie P 02-20-2006 10:20 AM

RE: Nugent

Because that was a response from a poster and it's wrong. It wasn't a parody in High times.

The original article appeared in a Magazine in the 70's had been talked about since then.

Not a typical response from me, expected would be more like it. I followed YOUR link and it took me to an animal rights website. You acknowledged your mistake but the qote above is a cheap shot with no merit. I don't know if Nugent dodged the draft? I would like to know, I'm not going to believe a link from a single quote from the Detroit Free Press that is on an animal rights website. I would like a link to the article that it was quoted from? Can anyone provide that? Where was the article published? With what you have provided for sources there is nothing to refute.

Mez - your'e right - it was uncalled for in your direction. I need to direct my responses to those most deserving and you were not it.

I really could care less about Ted, I already stated I don't know enough about him to vote for or against him, but the few times I have seen him on TV debating people he has handled himself very well. As for the draft dodging... I wouldn't let that infuelnce my vote anyway, so it would be a moot point with me.

Yes, the three things we say that you can't discuss at work are:
1. Politics
2. Religion
3. Ted Nugent

Get religion into the mix here and you've got a 20 page thread in no time!:D:D:D:D

Just a note for folks: wikipedia is an information project that pretty much allows almost anyone to enter information on a given subject without much verification. If you can site any publication, they pretty much just print it.

I don't know if it is or isn't true, but this quote seems to be the only one you can find on the net right now.

I heard the draft dodging thing about Ted Nugent, too, but I don't know where. I'm not sure if doing that to yourself is worth it...but then again 50,000 other guys didn't try that, went to Vietnam, and died. Definately not the most popular war, but then again, we've already heard the 'nam thing in politics. Bush gets out of it, Kerry goes and then happened to oppose it. Going and doing that for your country gives you the right to oppose it, I believe. My father and uncle went, and they opposed it too. However I'm DEFINATELY not saying I support Kerry. I'm just saying that I'm really not thinking somebody draft dodging should get much respect. Sure, I wasn't around then, but still...

To Nugent again, that guy's crazy I've seen his shows. lol

I know Ted is a friend to all hunters. And he does bring a lot of good press to our sport. But he's a guitarist, not a statesman, politician, or even a political science major! Before you go promising him votes, hear what he has to say about the issues. What are his opinions of, and solutionsto the problems at hand. Anybody can talk a good game!
And, becausehepresents himself as a conservative, flag waving American,if he did dodge the draft...he's achickens@#tSOB!
