RE: What is your max distance?
I practice out to 50 yards just to perfect my form , but I never take a shot of over 35 yards at a deer .

RE: What is your max distance?
I respect people who say a 40 yard shot on an animal is too long. I have a personal range of 35 yards on a deer but have decided I will take a 40 yard shot on an elk because of the 14 inch vital area. It will pretty much come down to whether or not I feel comfortable with the shot. I may not feel comfortable with a 15 yard shot because of conditions. On the other hand I might have a bull standing at 42 yards broadside with no wind and no obstructions. It all depends on the situation for me but I try to stick to 35 on deer and 40 on elk.

RE: What is your max distance?
I practice diligently out to 90 meters, but my shots on game are considerably less. How far depends on the circumstances of weather, how confident I feel in the shot, whether or not the animal is relaxed and whether or not the animal is already wounded. I simply won't put a solid, arbitrary number on my maximum distance, but will say I try to get within spittin' distance every time.

RE: What is your max distance?
I practice out to 40 yards but will not take a shot at a whitetail over 30. Although all my deer have been taken at 25 yards or less. It's a real confidence builder practicing 10 yards further out of your comfort range and knowing you can hit your spot.

RE: What is your max distance?
Longest was 62 yards, which was from sheer unbridled youth and of course a bet that I couldn't make the shot. Great lesson for me because my shot was less than perfect and I unnecessarily but an animal through suffering, took about an half hour to track and dispatch the deer. Now I pride myself on how close I can get.

RE: What is your max distance?
30 yards is my max. I also practice farther for form and to show those wheelie folks even stick bow shooters can keep 95% of there arras in the center bail at 50 yards (about a 18" circle with 5 of these circles making up the bail and the ends of them facing the shooter)
Most of the time however I try to get as close as I can and usually end up screwing up when I should have and could have made a perfect shot at 20-25 yards, just something bout shooting one at 5 steps 2 years ago....someday I will better that <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>! |
RE: What is your max distance?
I have 4 pins on my bow sight they are 15 25 35 45 yards and they are not there just to look at either. I am confident at all ranges or it wouldn't be there. My first buck this year was shot at 35 yards and was a double lunger.

RE: What is your max distance?
I like to practice at 40 but would not shoot over 30 to many trees and such up here in MN.

RE: What is your max distance?
I realy like to keep things under 30, but I will shoot out to 35 yards under the right conditions.
