how many pins?
i plan on buying a bow in the spring, and am looking at accessories for it...i was wondering how many pins you guys use on your sights? it will be my first time shooting a bow seriously in my life so i doubt my range will be too far even though i will be shooting every day from may-the end of september.....i just dont know how many pins to look for? i was thinking 5 so i can dial them all in and know at 25 my arrow will hit the 25yd pin ect...no guessing....just remembering during the moment of truth...but i guess if i had 3 i could go 10,20,30...and if somethings at 15 put it in between the 10 and 20yd pins....i dont know...what do you guys say on the subject?? whats the better choice? thanx guys....hope you guys dont get sick of me and my questions

RE: how many pins?
3-pins @20-30-40, then shoot the gaps for odd ranges.

RE: how many pins?
I am not saying that the way I do it is best, but it is the way I do it. I use only one pin. It seems to eliminate confusion for me during the shot. I have to only look at one pin, I put it right where I want it from 0-20yds then start to raise it a bit if I am shooting farther out, although I rarely shoot any farther out, I like to hang stands so the shot is about 15-20yds. Again, not saying this is the best way just the way that I like! :)

RE: how many pins?
I use 3 pins...20, 30, 40. Although I only practice with the 40 yard pin, it makes the closer shot seem a bit easier!

RE: how many pins?
I have 5 vertical pins. 10-20-30-40-50. It is not at all confusing or hard to see the animal. It gives you a lot of confidence knowing that the pin is right for the job.

RE: how many pins?
None. I hate having sights on a hunting bow. They just get in the way.

RE: how many pins?
The fewer the better when you are starting out. Most of today's bows are fast enough that there isn't much difference from 20-30 yds, which is as far as I'd recommend any new bowhunter shoot regardless of ability. In that case you can try 1 pin and adjust to see how you like it, if that doesn't suit you, add a 30. Try to practice out to 40 though, to make the close ones a chip shot. 20-30-40 is a good setup, but I'd forget the 40 at live targets.

RE: how many pins?
I use to have 4 pins on my bow 10 20 30 40. As I hunted more and more I never used 40 very often so when I bought new fiberoptic sights i just use 3 10 20 30
