Default Scent Control

I am in the middle on buying scent control from Wildlife Research Center or from H.S. Scents. Which have you had better results with and how did you keep your clothes scent free gettin them to the field.

I use the H.S. detergent and seal them in their sealable bags. Their bags are big, I use two- one for my outer clothes and one for my clothes underneath- T-shirt, sweatshirt, socks, etc. I got the bags at Walmart. One thing I've wondered is, when drying them in the dryer, do the clothes pick up any scent left from the previous clothes and dryer sheets?

For over 20 years, I've relied on baking soda and scent-free detergent to wash my clothes. When possible, I like to hang them outside on the clothesline in the rain for a "final rinse cycle!" When I'm forced to use the dryer, I like to make sure there's no dryer sheets in there and then run it for a minute or two to remove any leftover scent. Storing your clothes in simple plastic garbage bags (leaves optional) is as good as using the commercially sold bags.

THIS IS WHAT I DO:
1)SHOWER EACH DAY NO MATTER WHAT SOAP SHAMPOO YOU USE
2)HUNT DAY SHOWER WITH ANY BRAND SCENT FREE HUNTERS SOAP/SHAMPOO I USE "SCENT-A-AWAY" BY HUNTERS SPECIALTIES
3)WASH YOUR CAMO (JACKET, PANTS, HAT, GLOVES, FACE MASK) IN SCENT FREE LAUNDRY DETERGENT, WITH THIS I USE EITHER SCENT-A-WAY, WILDLIFE RESEARCH, OR SCENT SHIELD PRODUCTS
4)PUT CLOTHES OUTSIDE TO AIR DRY, ONCE DRY SPRAY THEM DOWN WITH SCENT ELIMINATOR, ANY BRAND FROM ABOVE, THEN PUT THEM INTO A CLEAN PLASTIC GARBAGE BAG I LIKE THE BIG BLACK TRASH BAGS, LET ALL THE AIR OUT, TIE IT UP..ALSO SPRAY YOUR BOOTS AND PUT INTO SEPERATE BAG
5)I WASH MY CLOTHES:UNDERWEAR,SOCKS,LONGJOHNS,T-SHIRT,SWEATSHIRT,ETC, I USE REGULAR DETERGENT "ALL CLEAR & FREE" BUT VERY LITTLE
6)DONT STOP FOR GAS FILL UP NIGHT BEFORE, DONT STOP FOR COFFEE, EGGS, BACON, ALSO TRY NOT TO SMOKE
7)GET TO YOUR PARKING AREA, GET DRESS, SPRAY DOWN WITH SCENT ELIMINATOR ON CAMO, FACE, NECK, HANDS, HAIR
8)CARRY A EMPTY WATER BOTTLE, TO PISS IN
9)IF YOU CAN STAY ALL DAY IN STAND, BRING FOOD THAT DOESNT SMELL:PEANUTS, GRONOLA BARS, CANDY FOR ENERGY, JUST WATER TO DRINK

THIS IS WHAT I DO, IT WORKS FOR ME, MAY NOT FOR OTHERS, OR MAYBE YOU JUST HAVE TO MODIFEY IT TO FIT YOUR NEEDS, BUT I HAVE TO SAY, THAT I DO THIS, AND MY FRIENDS DONT, I SEE MORE, AND BIGGER DEER THEN THEY DO, AND LAST YEAR 1 FRIEND HAD A ENOUGH AND DID WHAT I SAID, HAD HE SAW MORE DEER, AND BIGGER DEER CLOSER TO HIM. GOOD LUCK!!

well this is one topic I love to talk about. When I first started hunting a long time ago I really didnt care what I wore in the woods I would get off work and go straight to the woods in my work clothes. I seen deer but never within range and they were always on the move. Ive pretty much tauhgt myself everything up to now. And one of the things im glad I keyed in on is scent control. About a month before season opener I start washing with a scent free soap every morning. I shave my head and keep it to the bone. I gather all my hunting duds that have been stored scent free over the season. and wash about three times with a scent eliminating soap along with a cup of baking soda. Then I hang them outside for 2-3 weeks before season. As far as storing everything I stay away from white or black trash bags they have a dye in them and produce a smell. If I use a trash bag its a leaf bag (clear) or a h.s scent bag but ive noticed that they dont hold up to good maybe three trips and youll find a hole somewhere. I recently purchased a bag that is awesome. Thanks to the misses she ordered me these bags that when sealed you hook a vacumm cleaner to a fitting on the side and suck every bit of air out of the bag. this keeps your bag from any kind of moisture and does not sweat ( yall probally know what im talking about when your bag looks like theres water inside of it, when you take from the warm house to the chilly air outside ). I put all my clothes and under garmets in this bag and then put that bag inside the new ziploc bags (heavy duty bags). along with my boots. I also wash my bow with a scent free soap too. When afield I strip down buck nakid and take my time getting dressed so I dont work up any kind of a sweat. When ready I spray down with a earth scent eliminating spray and also I sray down bow, and stand (climber). and apply a couple earth wafers to the side of boots. I purchased the scent lok head gear this year to keep any mouth odors down and also for concealment. I use to use the knight in hale camo face paint which is good, but replace this every year. since Ive been doing this Ive had alot of success and have seen alot more deer. When you have deer walk up the same trail that you just did and have them linger around underneath you for hours you know your doing something right. The key is not to let any of your hunting garments see anything but the entrance to your deer woods!!!! The whitetails nose is awesome, can you imagine if they hunted us Good luck to ya this year.

if you want to use your dryer then use hs dryer sheets they smell like dirt but dont make your cloths smell to potent like dirt but they do work well.

Sounds like you just like to stand around naked outdoors. Do you like exposing yourself to old women and pets too? LOL!!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Just kidding you, I often change top layers in the field too but try to at least keep my skivees on.
