Yesterday was the opener for New York's southern zone bow season. I'm in my API climber and, of course, I've got the necklace on. Its about 3:15pm and I can hear a deer coming up behind me. If she takes any of the 3 trails I'm watching, I've got a shot. Instead, she walks right to the base of my tree. As I'm pivoting, trying to anticipate which way she will go, dried mud from my boots is falling and bouncing off her head.
Unfazed, she stands there for about 2 minutes until she sniffs a few branches I trimmed on the way up. Not liking what she smells, she slowly back-pedals and starts to leave the way she came. She did stop about 8yds away in a shooting lane but it was a severe quartering away shot and I was about 22ft up. I didn't like the angle and let her walk.
So the question is, how do I turn the power setting down on this thing? I do like to have deer in close, but not that close.
Seriously though, it was a great time. I left with some good memories and the knowledge that I had the discipline to pass up an iffy shot. I'll be back out again tomorrow with my Cardeer necklace on. Thanks again CD.

Turc, I am sorry to hear that the necklace is making things tricky for you . As a fellow bowhunter, I will offer my assistance to you in this dificult time and offer, as rough as it may be for me to do, to take the necklace off of you hands and assume the responsibility for it
. I know that it is a tough call, and somewhat of an imposition, but I'm willing to extend myself and help a brother out.
[seriously though, I'd love to get my hands on one of those! Maybe I could just borrow it?]

NJB, thanks for the kind offer but no thanks.
Tex, I'll have to try that tomorrow.
Rocky, you won't find any on Ebay. Once you get one, there's no giving it up.

Cardeer,
I thought the mojo had a direct correlation with the amount of peanut butter consumed, on the front porch at 3 in the morning, in ones birthday suit.
