I got my first bow today after reading some opinion on what to and not to get. I got a PSE typhoon set at 66 pounds. I like it plenty! Thetech told me to wax the string? WHat does this mean? EJ

The string is made up of many small fibers. You need to get a tube of bowstring wax and run it up and down the string. Then take you fingers or a piece of leather and work it in.
This serves two purposes it keeps the string from drying out, and keeps it lubed where the strands rub together.

I would use your fingers not leather.Take your tube of wax and slide it up and down on the string, then take your fingers and briskly slide them up and down on your string and cables and work the wax into the fibers. Then take a paper towel and wipe off the excess wax. This serves two purposes, it conditions the string and cables and will "HELP" keep moisture out of the fibers which can make them stretch.Hope this helps..Good Hunting

I shoot my bow alot in the off-season.I will wax my string on the 3rd or 4th outing.
As said above, just rub it in real good with your fingers or a piece of leather. This is how I do it and it hasnt failed me yet, works great.
Good luck with the new bow,and practice alot, season is just around the corner

Most of the bow wax today will break down with less heat than the wax from the older days. The reason why you rub it in is so the wax will heat up, slightly meltand work it's way into fibers and not just stay on the outside of the string. This will ensure that all of the string fibers are treated. You can use a piece of leather if you like but I just use my fingers. I have found that just about the time my fingers are getting too hot the wax has worked it's way into the string.
Just rub the wax from the tube onto the string (do small sections at a time) and rub it into whe string between your thumb and forefinger. Move to the next section till your done.
