No 1st year buck
Well, it's over. My first year bowhunting came to an end yesterday and I didn't kill a buck. I had several opportunities at small deer but chose to pass. I wanted to kill a large buck but it just didn't come together. I saw a few shooters but none in range. This year I killed a hog for my first bow kill and then got my first deer, a small but beautiful doe. I have since taken another hog.
I would have to call my first year a resounding success.I learned so much and have found what may well be a new way of life not just a new way to hunt. Do I have to change my user name now? I may have a lot more to learn but I no longer feel like a rookie.

If you were seeing deer and were able to make the choice to pass ,then I would have to agree that your season was a huge success .Where does it say that you have to take a deer in order to be successful . I seen 67 deer this season from my stand and I passed on 15 and also had a huge buck walk through my shooting lane ,and never got a shot at him due to an error on my behalf .Congrat's on your great season. I certainly believe I had a excellent season and highly successful just as yours was.

Congradulations on a great season. You can change your user name to something else, but you'll still make mistakes. Some of them will be rookie like mistakes, but we all do from time to time. This is my 30 somethingth year of bowhunting and I'm still learning. That's the fun part. I like to learn at least one new thing a season. Good luck
