RE: One BAD Day

The replies here started out as constructive criticism for wrongful doings on his morning hunt. For the storey, as we were told it, I feel constructive criticism was justified. But IMO, there are a few of you that have taken this to the point of bashing this guy and it is wrong of you to do so. And in doing this, have placed your selves in his shoes and are just as wrong.
We come to this board to tell our tales, get advice, learn new technics, and become better hunters. If we are doing something wrong or unethical, it is well that there are folks here to tell us so, that we may learn to do better.
Whether or not HC BF has learned anything from the replies here is his choice, but I am sure that the next time he is in the field shooting, he will remember. He has already said that he was leaving, and as far as I know he has. For those of you that suggested such a thing, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
As in a sin, one is not higher than another, a sin is a sin. In the same sense, a wrong is a wrong, and one wrong does not justify another.
Don't get me wrong, I replied on page 3, and do not agree with what he did on that morning.
I have asked that this thread be locked, so that the bashing of this fellow "LEARNING" hunter be stopped.

The best of luck in all your hunting endeavors!!!

God Bless,
Dave

I think it may be a good idea for the mods to lock this. I am sure by now this young man knows what he did was unethical, it is one thing to try and educate some one on a mistake in ethics, it is another to allow a flaming to go on and on. One of two things will happen, he will either learn from this mistake or figure that the guys totally flaming him are a bunch of jerks and continue doing what he is doing. In the future we all need to take situations like this and try to teach rather than attack. We need all the ethical hunters we can get out there.

Krisken, I understand what you are trying to say about inconsistancies(?). I believe you are correct about that. It all depends on who you are and how many people you have made friends with.

Mdbohunter, I noticed that also. I used to criticize people who did things like this and made enemies. It appears some people are either afraid to make enemies or else they probably would have done the same thing HCBF did and saw nothing wrong with it.

I know of someone who shot a 9 point through the bushes, and it was so dark his "old tired eyes" could barely see, only because it was the biggest deer he ever saw and was hoping he'd get it...He did but the next day after eat was eaten by coyotes. He is an "old timer". Could this be what other "old timers" are like? I hope not. Some people just seem to think they can thread an arrow through the bushes.

Tazman, and Deerdust, I agree. It is time to lock this thread and move on.

Tazman are you taking your ball and going home?

The way I see it everybody has just about said everything they can say to poor High Country and now we're just playing around trying to lighten things up. I guess we'll have to find a new game if they're shutting this one down.

A agree with you though, too much "constructive criticism" might turn him off so much that he totally misses the message behind it all.

Hey by the way, I noticed the logo. Are you a disabled hunter? Do you mind my asking what your disability is?

OK all you perfect people move along, nothing to see here. Come on, keep it moving, the party's over......

How much things stay the same amazes me. I remeber posts last season just like this one. When seasons pass the posts lighten up. Heat of the battle I guess.

My point: I've made mistakes, but I try and foccus on doing what's right and things tend to just work out. Hopefully reading this post will teach a few more young and old hunters alike what not to do.
