Be careful, I too thought they were the best thing since sliced bread. Several years back I along with four hunting pals switched to them thinking we had found the answer. Sure, if we had perfect hits (90% with no heavy bone on facing side) they did great. In fact most animals fell within sight of stand. However, if the shot was at an angle or struck heavy bone on way in, the animal was rarely recovered. This repeatedly happen to all of us. After two years and many deer unrecovered we have all returned to fixed blade heads. I probably know what your thinking, "but they fly so good," and "I haven't lost one yet." I was saying the same thing and now regret ever shooting those animals that we couldn't find.
P.S. Co-worker lost large buck yesterday. He said it was alittle forward but couldn't believe the arrow only went in 6-8 inches. You guessed it, mechanical head!!!

So far I think the Spitfires do the job! Last Tues nite I shot a big doe and she only went 45 yards. What a huge hole it made.It also broke 2 ribs on the exit.I could not believe that after cleaning off the blades, they were still straight and razor sharp( paper tested). As of now I'm sticking to them.Steve.

jbwph congrats on #2 of the year, in regards to the spitfires you will hear good and bad about them and every other broadhead on the market, fixed or mechanical. I emailed a number of folks that responded to the broadhead survey and I got excellent reports on spitfires and one gentleman even sent pics, man you talk about blowing a hole in them! WOW!

I don't exclusively use spitfires but I have taken a buck and a doe this year with them. I carry both spitfires and 100 gr. muzzy's in my quiver. The muzzy's impack 1" low and right and the spitfire's hit dead on but I know where they each shoot.
