I have had the best luck when I am able to mix in other noises such as leaf rustling and breaking branches. I have a favorite tree that holds its leaves well into the fall and overlooks a brushy draw. I to have problems with deer hanging up or being focused on the exact location of the rattling. Its the price you pay when you hunt by yourself, but when it all comes together and that big 10 comes straight to your tree you'll never forget it. Good luck.
