RE: 2005 Season! Success or Failure?

THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST YEAR EVER FOR ME. I HAVE SEEN THE MOST BUCK THIS YEAR THEN EVER. I HAVE BECOME A BETTER BOW HUNTER THIS YEAR FROM LEARNING ON ALL OF MY MISTAKES.SHOT MY FIRST BIG BUCK WITH MY BOW AND GOT ONE WITH A GUN. I AM MORE PROUD OF MY BOW BUCK WICH WAS NOT AS BIG AS MY RIFLE BUCK.I THINK I HAVE SERIOUSLY BECOME A BETTER HUNTER THIS YEAR

I would have to say that this year was very successful in my book. I still don't have any meat in the freezer, but's that's not important. I saw more deer this year than I ever have before. Too me just seeing deer when I'm out is great. This year I started too take my 5 year old son out with me. I love being in the stand, but with him we get in a blind. This is just the start of a lifelong hunting partner.

Pretty good and pretty bad all at the same time. Health problems really cut into the amount and the quality of time I could be in the woods but I mananged to kill two wallhanger bucks and 5 does.

It was very successful. My fioncee and I both filled all of our tags. Ended up with 2 boars, 2 antelope, 8pt buck, 9pt buck, and an early season doe. We used muzzleloaders, bows, and rifles, so it was fun to try a little of everything. And all of them were DIY hunts.

If we are able to get out in the woods and enjoy it that means it's a success.

This was the first year I have ever planted a food plot. I learned alot about food plotsand got some good trail camera pics.

Although I did kill a doe on opening day and my biggest buck to date I qualify this year as unsucessful because a saw very few deer and very little quality sign.

I would say mine was a success. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here's mine. Both on the same day. The buck on the left green scored at 138" and the one on the right at 156".

What I may do differently next year? I say this every year, but I think I'll hunt less in September and early October. I didn't see hide nor hair of either of these two bucks until the first week of the rut, November 6th, even though I shot them in the woods in my back yard. I can see my house from my treestand. This is several times now that I have had this happen. I'm beginning to see the cost/return curve as favoring the rut, obviously.
