RE: 2005 Season! Success or Failure?

I had a rather successful season, my biggest buck, and 3 does, one of which was my 1st deer takenfrom the ground with a bow.

I shot 3 doe and passed on lots of small bucks. The season is not over yet. We still have late archery and smokepole season for 3 weeks after xmass. I seen lots of deer and I got some new farms to hunt. It was a very good year!!

Although I have not killed a buck, and I still have a week to hunt, my season has been a resounding success. I made my first bow kill on a boar hog, about 125#. I also killed my first bow deer, a small doe I shot from the ground without a blind. I just sat in light cover with my back to a tree. I still can't believe I didn't get busted drawing. This is my first year with a bow and I'm ruined for life. No question it has been a success!

Failure: Still no deer in my second season. I was unable to hunt as much as I would have liked, but family is vastly more important.

Success: Our first food plots did better than expected. I did learn quite a bit about deer movement and habits.

Failure: Poor general stand placement, allowed the animals to pattern us pretty quickly.

Success: First nearly sucessful bow still hunt resulted in a heart pounding encounter with a very surprised doe. (if she would've stayed put another 2 seconds...)

Success! Being able to get out there and enjoy the hunt is all I'll ever need.

Success! I'm healthy and got to hunt every chance I could! Seen alot of deer. Missed a couple with my bow but got some meat in the freezer with the gun! Still have a few days left with my Bowtech!
Also had a successful hunt in South Africa! Got this great Kudu Bull, plus 2 Gemsbuk and a Red Hatrebeest!

Hey BowHuntingFool, is that a gun I see in that picture?? I'm just joking man that's a great looking animal. I had a great season this year, it was my first with a bow, too. I made two shots, and with it two kills. My first doe came up a little small I must admit...but my second I just killed a few days was a bigger one! I have seen deer almost everytime I have been out, and I even scared a doe who came five yards from my tripod and looked up. haha
