Are Bleat calls, Urine scents, and rattling a necessity after the rut in the late season? or can i do without?

I depend more on the curiosity value of soft contact grunts combined with non-estrous urine drags or mock scrapes. Food scents such as vanilla , apple cider , or persimmon can also be deadly now that the mast and ag crops are fewer . I've never found rattling to be very productive this late , it seems to spook them since they've gone through a rut and need to conserve energy for the Winter. Focus on known mast and water sources .

Get better optics and glass first next time . Look twice , shoot once . It works . No , don't quit bow hunting , you could have done the same thing with any weapon . If you kept both deer you're poaching in my book , you broke the law regardless of how , take your medicine and learn from it. If not learn from it anyway .

yeah that's how it seems.

but back to the origional post. most of the time you should focus on food sources and travel corridors between bedding areas and those food sources. generally the corridors are easier for a bowhunter to hunt than a big field.

I just used a mature buck grunt, very short and soft, about every 30 min. Brought in 3 nice bucks together this year, which was post rut.

Food, Food, Food deer are where the food is. I have yet to try vanilla but some say it works.
