RE: Freaky deer
What the hell is that?

RE: Freaky deer
Its foundered. The nails grow up like that when that happens. Happened to a mule of my neighbors, and a cow of my uncles not too long ago.

Yikes!!!

RE: Freaky deer
I read somewhere (can't remember where) That it occurs when there is too much sugar in their diet.

RE: Freaky deer
I've also read that too (not about the sugar) but about the nails...I think it was in North American Whitetail. I'll see if I dig that article up and shed some light on the subject.

RE: Freaky deer
Yep foundered, you usually see that in the horse species including mules and such. I never have seen it in a deer but I have seen cattle foundered so I suppose deer can get that way also. Man you could make some killer coat racks with those babies.
