RE: Freaky deer
What the hell is that?
|
RE: Freaky deer
Its foundered. The nails grow up like that when that happens. Happened to a mule of my neighbors, and a cow of my uncles not too long ago.
|
RE: Freaky deer
Yikes!!!
|
RE: Freaky deer
I read somewhere (can't remember where) That it occurs when there is too much sugar in their diet.
|
RE: Freaky deer
I've also read that too (not about the sugar) but about the nails...I think it was in North American Whitetail. I'll see if I dig that article up and shed some light on the subject.

RE: Freaky deer
I'm pretty sure that that's one of Santa's elf's deer, that's why the nail's grow so long ,they're spending too much time flying all around the country .LOL

RE: Freaky deer
Yep foundered, you usually see that in the horse species including mules and such. I never have seen it in a deer but I have seen cattle foundered so I suppose deer can get that way also. Man you could make some killer coat racks with those babies.

RE: Freaky deer

RE: Freaky deer
eww! yuck! what the hell is wrong with that deer! was it a captive deer?
|
RE: Freaky deer
That appears to be a deer that suffered from blue-tongue disease pr epizootic hemmoragic disease (EHD). I saw one in the wild 2 years ago. Wierd watching that thing try to walk around.
|
RE: Freaky deer
Where did you find this dee? And did you call the DNR or any one to see what was wrong
|
RE: Freaky deer
Yes, like others have said..that deer has foundered. I commonly occurs in horses, mules, and cows. One cause of it is that as the hooves continue to grow, but they aren't worn down. Just like humans have to clip their finernails, horses and such need their feet trimmed. If this doe lived in a place where thegroundwasn't rough enough tochip of pieces of hoof off, then they would continue to get longer and longer.
|
RE: Freaky deer
ive seen one that was taken around this area that was like that. weird stuff!! I bet she would kick butt.
|
RE: Freaky deer
WOW that is one hell of a freaky deer! Was it harvested or found? And where's the clippers? lol
|
RE: Freaky deer
That would make one hell of a gun rack. You would have to worry about your rifles falling off!
|
RE: Freaky deer
It's very painful to the deer.

too much sugar in the diet, what is somebody baiting these bad boys?
|
RE: Freaky deer
A friend of mine killed a HUGE monster buck with hooves like that. He had the 6-8" long "elf hooves" made into a gun rack. Someone told me that pen raised deer sometimes get that condition.

RE: Freaky deer
looks like one of those rare tap dancing deer
