Tragic news. I'd read this on archerytalk.com this afternoon.

as far as a bullet doing a 180 is concerned, I've seen it, and done it. I was shooting a 380 with my father some number of years ago near scranton pa. we were side by side, shooting at some cans maybe 15 yds away. I had just finished when my dad kinda yelps. I asked what happened. he says I don't know, something hit me in the stomach. we look on the ground and there is the bullet.

this is a terrible thing though. imagine how gramp pop feels. I cannot imagine if that was my daughter.

It probably didn't even have to go 90 degrees....

I've almost done this myself (not with a kid in the car though). I had a jeep wrangler and one time while sighting in a scoped .22 I was about to take a shot at a 50 yard target. I used the drivers side fender and the hood as a rest. Through the scope it was a clear shot but luckily I just happened to take my eye off the scope for a second and realized that the barrel was pointing awfully close to the hood. If Grandpa's shot was closer than 50 yards....

This just makes me totally sick.

I did not hear about it, and I would not believe it if I heard it because I would not think a bullet would bounce off a hog and come back and hit someone.

Sounds like Grandpa needs to use some common sence when using a firearm, and beware of his target: near and far. Very sad.
