Thumb Release?

Thumb Release?
After doing a little research .....it seems like a LOT of target and 3D archers utilize either a thumb or back-tension release for their shoots. I've tried it....and it seems very sound. I ordered a Carter thumb-style release, yesterday.
My question is, though.......Does anyone here HUNT with their thumb/back-tension release?
Thanks
Jeff

RE: Thumb Release?
I use a Tru-Ball Pro diamond, and really like it for hunting. It doesn't exactly have the trigger I'd prefer for target use, but to me it's perfect for hunting. I shoot a Scott Longhorn back tensionyear round for indoor and 3-d target use, and both of these releases hit within 2" of each other, so sighting in for deer season is a piece of cake.

RE: Thumb Release?
I have used the TRU Ball Chappy Boss and Pro Diamond. I like the Chappy Boss but was worried about the click at release. The Pro Diamond has the same design but I always pull my shots with it. More practice next year should help.
This thread answered some questions I had about backtension.

RE: Thumb Release?
I use a carter hunter with a thumb trigger. I haven'y had any problems hunting with it yet. I do carry a backup release in case I drop it. Usually a deer that isnt nervous will give you time to execute your shot with back tension but if not, with the thumb trigger you can always let it go a little more quickly.
