RE: Passthru
You missed clean.....did you remember to bend at the waist? If you did'nt bend at the waist, that would cause you to shoot over the deer. I missed a 25 yard, broadside shot last night. I heard the arrow hit something between myself and the deer. That's bowhunting.

RE: Passthru
Sounds like a miss to me as well. I did the same thing last year on a doe. Luckily I got a chance at her sister who was following her and made up for my mistake. Practice makes perfect, which still does not guarantee a hit. Better luck next time..<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
The best of luck in all your hunting endeavors!!! God Bless, Dave |
RE: Passthru
any pass through shot will have sign on the arrow,,,arrows do not travel at the speed of a bullet:) there is alot of contact area involved. U MISSED. hey, everyone does that here and there. aim a little higher...u will get lungs and heart arteries.

RE: Passthru
I nailed a doe opening day ay 32 yards clean pass thru blood all-over the arrow it hit her at the 4th to last rib and went out the butt and stuck in the ground 6 inches. she went 20yards and died in mid stride, every one it hit was covered in blood

RE: Passthru
FIRST I WOULD HAVE TO ASK WHAT YOUR PINS ARE SET FOR. THEN I WOULD ASK IF YOU COMPENSATED FOR IT, THEN I WOULD ASK IF YOUR FORM WAS CORRECT. IF YOU CAN ANSWER YES TO ALL THE FOLLOWING THEN I WOULD HAVE TO ASSUME THAT YOU MISSED. ITS OK EVERYONE DOES IT.

RE: Passthru
I have thought about my form quite a lot over the weekend and all I can come up with was the fact that I have started recently having the seat part of my climbing stand a bit higher to make standing easier. I just kinda lean back and perch on it rather than sitting. On this occasion I noticed that if I would have shot, my bottom cam would have hit the seat frame so I leant forward to avoid this. But as to using a "Macho" bow, I am 6 foot 3 and 220lbs. I use a bow that I am happy with and shoot well same as everyone should. People come onto this message board for help and accept constructive criticism as I do. However I don't see how criticising peoples choice of equipment is going to help anyone !!

RE: Passthru
Cyclone, what's macho about a 73# bow? My bow is at 72#. I draw and shoot it comfortably. Sure you can kill a whitetail with a 40# bow, but what's wrong with having extra speed and energy? Shooting a bow comfortably and accurately is most important....not how much draw weight it is. I guess I was really out there a few years ago when I was shooting 85# out of my old Buckmaster....to think, those deer all died too!

RE: Passthru
Boris,
i had one experience with a passthru that left only a slight hint that the broadhead went thru the deer. The deer was about 27 yds away and i was hunting from the ground.I took the shot(perfectly broadside)and saw the arrow strike the side of the chest--the arrow went thru and bounced off of a tree on the other side of the deer.I found the arrow laying on the ground and looked it over carefully--I could barely make out anything on the arrow at all. After inspection i noticed the only thing that had any evidence on it was the broadhead--nothing on the shaft or fletching. As bizarre as it sounds it really did happen and the only way i could notice the broadhead was the fact that my arrow didn't go into the ground.I guess stranger things have happened. |
RE: Passthru
Is it possible that the string may of hit your arm with out you realizing it. That would affect your aim and lack of penetration into the ground.
