Well maybe the difference in penetration is from you hitting something. I have shot out of my stand and hit a branch and it deflected low, shot a second time and hit the target.

I did the same thing. Turns out that I did not "bend at the waist" and I put all of my adjustments into my arm. End result at that angle was a 3" - 4" high shot on a target. Went back and tested the theoy and shot high each time with no waist bend. I know that I bent my arm and nothing else. 10 yrds as well.
Live and learn.

Boris, I think Cyclone may have been referring to someone else's previous comment about seeing the arrow hit. At 10 yards that's pretty hard to do unless you are "peeking" especially with a 73 lb. bow shooting carbons. As far as penetration, who knows? Maybe you hit a rock or a root or the arrow deflected a little on the first shot. All you can do is try, try again. Good job on following up though. You just never know.

I'd echo the miss...

I pulled the same thing - on - well - a troublesome feline...

I had it at 24 feet & missed by about 30 inches - this after shooting 10,000 or more rounds during the 3d season!!!

It happens to everyone - by the way - your heart wasn't racing was it?

Aim small miss small

10-yard shots are very close. You gotta remember that, unless you have a 10-yard pin, which most hunters I know, at least, don't have, if you were using a 20-yard pin, you most likely shot high and missed.

I've never seen an arrow that was clean after a pass thru. Sometimes the up-close shots are harder than the 25-yarders!

A miss, but on the bright side...you don't have a wounded deer out there.

One thing.......you said you aimed at the "top of the heart". Just remember at 10 yards and being in your stand, you have to aim really high on the deer to have your arrow pass thru the heart.

PRACTICE....PRACTICE....PRACTICE......SUCCESS!

Huntingbry got it right....my comments were directed at another post. You can see it hit a 10yds and you are "Peeking"
therefore bad form...You bagged a duck...Why the big Macho bow?

Nope, you missed. There will be signs on the arrow if it completely passes through. Try again.
