Default ANother falls to his death...

My brother-in-law in Memphis read me a story out of the paper where a hunter had been killed in a fall. Problem was, the guy was tied in. He had on a safety harness system. The way he described it the guy must have had it too low and he hung himself when his stand broke. I guess the harness got under his chin or something. Anyone in Tenn/Miss know anything more about it??? It was last week.

I have OFTEN worried about this very thing. Climbing up and down leaves slack in the strap and also many times leaves the strap hanging over your shoulder because you are facing the tree. I can easily see how someone could fall and have the strap snap his neck or hang him.........I have tried many things to eliminate this situation but I don't see how it is possible in a climber.

I read about this Monday morning. What a tragedy. I was right across the street from where it happened hunting on private property. Something needs to be in place to minimize the risk. Whatever it takes. Once is too often, and it's happened a lot more than that. My sister is in real estate and trying to sell a house for a woman who lost her husband due to a tree stand accident.

DavidI heardabout the one in Md while I was sitting in the truck waiting to go in the woods. I didn't catch it all but I emailed WTOP radio and asked them about as that was the station I heard it on but they never got back to me. I meant to ask you and Len if you all had heard but forgot. I was going to post it here but I couldn't get the info from the station.

Ironic yes, but soooooo rare! Plenty more hunters get hurt or die because of not using one. The Mind just doesn't get it. So sad. [&o]
