If you were fortunate enough to take a monster buck with a bow and were offered money and a replica of the deer....would you do it?

Thats a tough one. How much money are we talking? Why would someone want to buy a deer that that did not shoot?

I never would have thunk it either but it appears there is an active nationwide market of "antler/horn buyers".

If you don't measure 'em, you won't have to worry about such stuff. I sincerely doubt it, but I guess there's a price for everything. Like maybe a few hunts in far a way places would be nice. Or maybe, sell the replica rights and keep the deer. I really really doubt it. It's just not my style or dreams. Hunting to me is just plain a simply a personnal thing to me. I don't do it for fame or acclaim or money.

Sometimes different retail stores will buy them to put on display.

But yes, I would sell it. There was a guy around here a few years ago that sold one to bass pro for 25K. I don't do it for the money, but it would sure be a welcome bonus.

Good question. So much hard work and time goes into getting a big rack that the money would have to be substancial. Lets say for the sake of arguing 50,000. Bye Bye rack.

Actually, for me, no I probably wouldn't. Unless there was a serious need for some $, and assuming they were offering alot of $.

Problem is, the selling of antlers in some circles leads to poaching. For example, if someone is willing to pay out a couple of hundred to a thousand dollars for a trophy size head, there are those who would poach for the money. I'd be willing to bet a few antlers sold on EBAY were taken that way.

Personally, if I were offered several thousand dollars and a replica for an already mounted head, I would sell.
