I would sell if a replica was made and the price was right!

RE: Would You Sell Your Deer?
Yes, I would.
1.) I can always use the money. 2.) If we're talking world class, everyone would know it's my buck anyway, so I wouldn't have to prove anything. Which leads to the next point: 3.) Everyone would know I had it. Theft of world class deer heads is a real concern and not one I would want to deal with. (and as someone mentioned earlier fire) 4.) I would sell to some sort of public accessable entity, not a private collector. 5.) I would retain all rights to the deers image and any royalties from replicas and promotional photos. (I can always use the money.) 6.) I might have to have some sort of stipulation allowing me to borrow it for certain shows. (I can always use the money.) 7.) A good artistic replica will be sufficient for my needs. I'm not going to take it off the wall and fondle it. If it looks real it will be a sufficient reminder to me. My memories are not sold with the head. Only old age can take those. I have the same opinion about any kind of expensive heirloom I might find or inherit. No matter what the sentimental value I can't afford to have that kind of money lying around my house to be stolen, or destroyed. I get upset enough when I break, loose some cheap item around the house let alone something of that value. Seems like more a burden then a blessing. |

Sorry...but that I don't believe! Unless it was in pennies. |
RE: Would You Sell Your Deer?
Sell....Sell.....Sell.....thats what them make cameras for....a few pictures and memories as well as a fat wallet would be fine for me. With as much money as I spend on hunting it would be nice to get a financial return at some point. And imagine the pull you would have with the wife, if I got $25k for a mount I could talk her into letting me go hunting whenever and wherever I wanted. Win win situation in my book.

I'd never sell the original unless it was needed for afamily emergency. I would allow replicas to be made and sold for cash. I am always looking for timber land to buy. :D:D:D

RE: Would You Sell Your Deer?
Tough call. It would be very hard for me to part with a world class buck that I had been scouting all summer/fall and spent countless hours in a treestand hoping for that one shot. I'd like to say that it wasn't for sale. But, a lot of zeroes on the end of a check could take care of a lot of bills. Also, I'd be afraid I would have to keep it in a locked vault all the time for fear of it being stolen from my house. Lucky for me my biggest is 130" and nobody is beating down my door with a checkbook in hand to buy him.

RE: Would You Sell Your Deer?
I found a set of sheds and had them shoulder mounted with a cape of mine. It scored 222 6/8. I had a guy offer me $5000 for it. I told him no thanks, they mean too much to me.

RE: Would You Sell Your Deer?
Just curious how many of those that wouldn't see their deer would buy a deer?
