I would hunt it again after I gave it some time off, about a week. Did you gut your deer nearby? That may have an effect on the deer. But I have shot a doe from a stand gutted it right there and my buddy shot a buck two days later in the same stand.

I woundn't be afraid to go back there again the next day. But, as Matthews has said it would be wise to field dress the deer away from the stand. Too much of your scent would be around the area.

I have shot a deer out of a stand in the morning and that same night hunted the same stand and shot a nice buck

Since a week has passed, it should be alright to return to the stand. I normally rotate stands every time out--even with getting a shot--just so I won't "burn out" an area. Right now, an area that was hot as a firecracker 2 weeks ago is getting no action right now because the acorns are falling 1/2 mile away (treMENDous activity there)--guess where I've moved to!!!!
