Yes , this year with each license we get a doe tag and a buck tag. You can also purchase additional tags for $12 a piece (doe only) and we have a zone-t hunt (doe only) with guns in October and again in December. I believe the zone-t areas cover like 70% of the state. Last year we were issued three tags with each license (gun & bow). In years past I would apply for a either sex tag , but I haven't needed to for probably the last five or six years due to all the extra tags. I have a sneaky suspician that next year will be earn a buck.

I live in Wi. I used to bait, and had some luck, but i am glad its banned. In my area where i own 40 acres there is a lot of deer, but i live 3 hrs away. The guys that live all around me had the luxury of baiting daily, or even worst weekly by piling 200lbs out at one time, making the deer nocturnal. It became a big competition thing and i even ended up buying electric feeders just to keep up so i saw some deer on my land. Now this is farm country, mixed with oak woods, so baiting is not needed, and i believe actually hurts the hunting in the area. I gave it up before the ban and still managed to see deer by hunting the natural food. I think if most hunters would put a little effort into finding the natural food sources and make a game plan they would be surpised at the results. I know some of you wont agree but it just shows that you are not capable of thinking like a deer and hunting like an preditor. Give it a try, the acorn crop is plentiful. if you dont have acorns, find them,or get a new hunting spot. if you cant find them the deer are eating something or they wouldnt be there in the first place. I can take anyone to the public hunting land near my place and put them on deer every night,i have done it for friends already. I just find a clearcut area and find a close by oak patch and there will be deer . Most guys underestimate the power of acorns even more so if they are white oak.

I highlighted the biggest problem I found with your post! A 200lb pile of corn was illegal! We had a five gallon limit on baiting. Maybe 1-800-DNR-TIPP would have been the better approach<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

[/quote] Been there, done that, Nothing got done. wardens were short handed in my hunting areas and i guess they felt it wasnt the most important thing for them to track down an oversized baitpiler. I have flown a small plane in the late season to get a birds eye view of funnels and swamps for stand placement the next season, and have seen bait piles from the air as big as pick up truck beds in many areas. They stick out like a sore thumb, pretty sad . I has a really good spot in the outskirts of Milwaukee that had some big suburban bucks. The city deer were nocturnal by nature to begin with but then this guys started his huge baitpiles on the same property and the whole spot went to hell, they went nocturnal. I wrote a note to him asking to stay in the legal limits of baiting and put it in a ziplockbag on his tree, but he didnt stop. I found out he was sitting after hours in the late season, and turned him in. That time the wardens responded....

Smitty 1, It has been legal to feed deer in NY until this year. You were not allowed to hunt over it. You also don't have to go back to town hall or store and get your licence after you shoot one with the bow, you now get it when you first buy your licence.

Im from Michigan this is the last year of baiting deer for us. I think our deer population is really going to go down hill. The reason being is i live in Upper Michigan way up in the keeweenaw peninisula where winters are tough on the deer with an average snowfall of 320 inches a year and deer depend on feed from our local Hunt clubs to make it when the going gets tough in mid to late winter. Without feeding the deer i think that the deer are in trouble. Now with the wolves rebounding and Cougar sightings its not looking good for years to come.
