Default Cold weather boot Q

i have some 1000 gram rubber camoflauge redhead bone-dry boots i bought before bow season. i used them for bow season this year and they are a warm boot. we have not had a cold year in wisconsin yet but this week for gun season it will be colder out. it will be about 25-35 and we sit all day long. do you guys think my feet will stay warm with 2 pairs of heavy socks on in 1000 gram boots?

Oh yeah. Rubber holds heat anyway, and the insulation will do nothing but help. I have 1000 gr. Thinsulate rubber boots, and I wear a liner sock under heavy wool socks, and my feet stay nice and toasty.

Problem with going with two pair of heavy socks is that youcan end up with a tight fit in your boots which then leads to cold feat. Your boots need to be on the loose side IMO. Go with a liner sock and a nice wool sock over the top.

You should stay warm with those, but remember....rubber doesnt breathe so if your feet get sweaty on the way to the stand, they are going to reamain wet all day with the rubber trapping the moisture.

A key some people overlook, your extremeties start to get cold when your core starts to get cold. The body then keeps the blood closer to your core because thats where your vital organs are. Keep that core toasty warm and it willHELP your hands and feet.

I'll second that, I know lots of people who wear the warmest boots on the market yet their feet are still cold because they don't keep the rest of them as warm as they should.

I agree with those above. I have a pair of Neoprene 400gram but I can't hunt in them in cold weather. Personally I use Irish Setter 1000gram cold weather boots and can't be happier. They have scent protection and are completely waterproof. I'm not sure if you are a dipper, but another thing that people don't know is that nicotine cuts the circulation off to you extremeties, so that will make you colder as well. Good luck.

Ill be out for the Wisconsin Gun season this weekend and i plan to stay warm in 400 gram rubber boots, 30 degrees is warm compared to most years here. I would really recomend keeping a loose fit in your boots, that will account for more warmth than the extra layer of socks
