I read all these posts of generous bag limits and I turn green with envy. In Oregon we are allowed one deer unless you get a special draw for another tag. My deer hunting was over opening weekend (the end of August). One cool thing about out west is the verity of game we can hunt. I get the Sports Pac every year it includes my combo hunting/fishing licens, salmon/steelhead harvest card, general season Deer tag, general season Elk tag, Bear tag, Cougar tag, Sprung turkey and Upland game stamp. All of that for $105, not bad. I guess what I don’t have in the way of generous bag limits is made up for in being able to hunt all year for different game.

Dove season comes in in Arkansas Sept. 1st followed by teal season two weeks later. Then bowseason comes in and lasts from Oct. 1 through Feb. Duck season comes in Nov-Jan(we have pretty good duck hunting<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>). Throw in some excellent rabbit, squirrel, and quail hunting during the fall and some fair fall bear hunting oppurtunities. Spring turkey gets here again in April and we can hunt hogs on private ground any time. All for a total cost of $57 and that includes $22 worth of duck stamps. I do feel like we are lucky. We even have elk hunting now but we are only allowing 30 elk to be taken a year.

I really shouldn't complain. Last year with my bow I shot a deer, cow Elk, Bear, Coyote, Grouse, Turkey, many Squirrels and Rock Chucks, Ferril hog, Bobcat and lots of foam. Oh ya I missed my Cougar, launched my arrow into never never land. It isn't easy trying to shoot almost straight up. He jumped down and ran off. really didn't feel like trying to track him. This year I haven't been able to hunt as much. Have taken Deer, Grouse, Turkey, Squirrels and vermin, and alot of foam.

I would definitely trade our ducks for your elk. I would love to live in Montana or Wyoming. I am not much of a small game hunter any more so living in your neck of the woods would suit me well.
