Ohio Hunters
Do you think the rut is a little late? I'm not sure if it is the weather or just not time yet. Last year I watched bucks chase and mount does up until Thanksgiving day.
Just wondered what you all thought.
Thanks

Same here. I hunt Hancock and Shelby counties. About 75 miles apart and in both places im not seeing a lot of rut sign. I had a decent 8 point come in the other day and wouldnt respond to any estrus bleats or anything. I have noticed the does are starting to split up a little bit now though.

I hunt in Harrison and Tuscarawas counties, and I've been seeing PLENTY of rut sign- rubs and scrapes everywhere. I went out on Tuesday morning and saw 5 bucks- all of them seemed to be out hunting for does. On the other hand, the weather has been screwy this fall, and I've noticed that has thrown off deer activity somewhat.

I've seen smaller ones chasing does, the 2 big ones I've seen were following does last week, but definitely weren't in full rut...saw a small 8 tending a big doe 2 weeks ago...I'm HOPING the full swing hits tomorrow. I'm off all day. [8D]

I've not seen to much other than a buck tending scraps last week, today these scraps
was dried up. they haven't been freshed up lately. Seen tons of does but the bucks not chaseing yet. Last year It was in full swing and I killed a 150 class 9 point chaseing does on Nov 9th. This is in North Central Ohio, Wyandot County. I think the warm weather has slowed it down this year, hopefully it will start any day.

I drive around a bit during the day during work, and I've seen 3 REALLY nice buck in fields in the middle of the day...that had me thinking the rut was starting last week...but in the woods where I hunt it seems like it hasn't started yet.
