Default bhead question for 5shot

hey I jsut killed a big doe with my rocket wolverine 4P heads. at 17yds it was a complete pass through leaving a big hole on the exit, she ran 18 yards and fell over dead. when I looked at me arrow I noticed that the collar that goes on between the head and the arrow was broke by the blades opening. I also noticed that when the blades broke through the collar one of them also cut into my insert and arrow shaft itself.
did you notice anything like this during your testing of Rocket heads?

The blades open with tremendous force!!! I've seen this happen to all makes and models of mechs. Hey for put down power like you just described,.... I wouldn't be to worried about trashing a collar.

They almost all destroy the washer. no big deal really since they come with replacement blades if you go that way. most people who use mechanicals just buy another pack and away they go.

I have seen it happen many times. One way to cure it is to use a tougher washer. I know those blades can do a number on your inserts! Try shooting one without the washer!!! LOL Congrats on your deer and nice shot.

5shot, are you recomending shooting without the washer? I was not clear whether outdoorsman meant the "insert failed, or the washer failed". I have heard of this happening when the washer was mistakenly left off but have never heard of ruining a shaft when a washer was in place? Just wondering...Fletch

No I don't recomend shooting without the washer, but in my haste I have forgot to put them on when testing. They still work well, but wil destroy your arrow insert QUICK!
