Rut Stands
Archery season started Saturday in PA, and I am aleady doing some inseason scouting on my way to and from my stands. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on stand locations and tactics for hunting rut crazed bucks. Thanks alot.

Hunt the doe groups and travel routes between doe groups. The area does not have to be tore up with sign to be a travel corridor between areas. In fact the bucks seldom spend a lot of time in these areas except passing through in search of estrus does.

agree with hobbes. find where the does are hanging out and the bucks will show in a couple of weeks. the big shots are claiming oct. 19th on and the bucks should start seeking does. i've had great success doing this. we have about a 10 acre area where there is a heavy concentration of does and every year i have my stands in there and have great action. good luck scouting and hunting. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
