Default question

hey everyone, i have a martin archery bow thats kinda old, at least ten years. i was wondering if i should use it for hutning deer, i don't know the draw wieghtbut i believe it's adjustable by tighening the limbs. i've been shooting it free eye and with no help but a release and i'm accurate up to 20 yards. also this is my first year hunting. should i just wait till i get a better bow??

Hi there, and welcome to the world of archery. What you should do is take it to a reputable archery pro shop and have it checked out. Just because it is an older bow doesn't mean squat. You just need to make sure that it is set up and tuned properly. If you don't have a pro shop, then check around and I bet you will find someone in your area that hunts archery andthey will help you out. Good Luck.

Like mofire said, take it to a shop to have it looked at, first and foremost, make sure it is safe to shoot, it dont matter how old it is, as long as it is safe to shoot and fits you so you can shoot it accurately. Good luck with it this year.

Another thing to keep in mind is that certain states have requirements for bowhunting setups, draw weight limits, cutting edge diameter, or other requirements. You want to make sure your setup meets these. Safety, draw lengths, arrow spine are all important to have checked out as well. I shoot a bow that's over ten years old and it gets the job done well. I started with an even older bow. A good, well kept bow can serve you for years. Have it looked at and go get 'em.
