Hi there, and welcome to the world of archery. What you should do is take it to a reputable archery pro shop and have it checked out. Just because it is an older bow doesn't mean squat. You just need to make sure that it is set up and tuned properly. If you don't have a pro shop, then check around and I bet you will find someone in your area that hunts archery andthey will help you out. Good Luck.
