Default Toughest few weeks of the season to hunt

For me this last week and the next few are the toughest for meto hunt. The problem I have is the leaves changing colors. When they are all green it's easy for me to pick up the deer moving through the forest. When they fall it's way easier for me to see them plus they make more noise crunching through the down leaves and all.

But now there is so much contrast in colors with the reds, greens, yellows, browns, etc...it's very hard to spot them.

Iget more "sneek ups" this time of year than any other and always have. As much as I like the fall colors, I can't wait for them to drop.[:@]

How bout you guys/gals?

I have the same problems. And to top it off we've had alot of wet weather lately. It makes it even harder to hear them with the ground being so soft and the leaves wet. I still have fun though.

And it's also the time of year when the patterns of the deer are changing so fast. One week they're here, the next there, food sources changing... At least the'll settle in here in a few weeks.

Definately, over the weekend my friend had a doe get within 5 yds of his stand before he knew she was there. Also as I was getting down one morning, I saw 6 deer on a ridge about 100 yds from my stand that I couldn't see from up in the tree.

Tough times are soon to turn into the best times though.

It is unreal how they can melt in with the surrounding woods! Now you see him, now you don't. Amazing!

It's harder for me to see them in standing bean fields than against the background of the woods.

I think that the changing leaves can make things easier. The deer make a lot of noise with those crunching leaves. I personally believe that early to mid october is the hardest to hunt. Big bucks don't like to move a lot then.
