Most of the hunting around here is in woodlands with fields near by.

Most of my hunting is done in the woods. I do have a few stand locations that are in the woods but overlook fields. The problem I have is that I can only hunt those when the wind is right because of the travel routes.

I like hunting swamps or heavy bush, anywhere and in any state/province. I don't enjoy hunting fields, about the time you find a good spot, a piece of machinery comes thru and blows it. Or even a pick up driving in on me. I'll take the bush or swamps and try to elliminate the human factor as much as possible as I try to get as far as possible from the humans.

I live on about 400 acres in Maryland, an old dairy farm.so i have alot of feild to hunt, but the woods is awsome especially when u can find a funnel or a bottom to hunt. But early bow i like the field edges hunt a woods edge into a feild where ur on the up hill side of the woods.

Woods. I'm a bow hunter. It does me no good to see some critter at 200 yards. I'd just as soon watch squirrels run around.[8D]

Woods here also...

My best stands are located in wooded funnels.

I like to hunt where the does are this time of year [:-]

If Im hunting mornings its woods for me between the fields and bedding areas. If its evenings Im hunting fields. In the fields I have several islands that are within 40 yards of the main woodline and are in a 150 yard pocket, its a magnet for the deer in the evenings as they enter the fields.

I prefer the heavy north woods. That is what I am used to, but also I just love sitting in the spruce/aspen forests. The closest thing to a field I have hunted are clear cuts with moderate success, but I always go back to theheavy woods.

All I have is farm country to hunt on, which means I'm always on the edge of a field. It has worked just fine for me, because the edges of fields seem to be like a highway for deer, and there is a natural food source right in front as well.Plus, walking in to your spot walking on dirt is MUCH quieter than walking through leaves and sticks.
